When he was seventeen years old, Cyrion wrote his first song. It was a song about happiness and world traveling. Cyrion knew how to play the piano but thought the piano was a bit dull. He wanted to pluck, pick and strum, so he picked up a ukulele. With some friends from school, Cyrion started a band called G is for Giraffe. He wrote most of the songs for the band. He quickly found out that the band was a lot of fun but his musical vision would sometimes suffer because the other band mates were not thinking alike. He continued playing in the band but started writing and performing solo as a so-called singer-songwriter.

When Cyrion got struck with a serious injury in both his feet he got stuck at home for three months without being able to walk. For those three months all he did was writing music and practicing his musical skill in guitar playing and ukulele playing. He wrote an album full of songs and once he could walk again he dived into performing as much as he could. Bars, clubs and even on the streets of Amsterdam, you could always find him playing somewhere.

Some people compare Cyrion to the Kooks, Milow or even Jackson Browne. The funny thing is that he barely listened to any of them. Inspired by a wide variety of musicians he created his own style which can only be described as Cyrion. You’ll have to hear it for yourself.

(Chris P.
